A wise scholar who crossed the line.
Hello.
Today I had an argument. I claimed that in my opinion Rabbi Bonim Schreiber is a great man in Torah and stupid and petty in his thinking about the state and the army.
My friends claimed that I could say that I disagree with Rabbi Schreiber but not disparage him.
I argued against that because I think he behaved in public like a fool, then I despise him because he is a person who has things in him that should be despised. As far as I am concerned, he crossed the line of legitimate claims. And from my impression, he revealed himself in his weakness.
They claimed that it was slander and an insult to a scholar.
What does the rabbi think?
Should we belittle or just disagree?
And is it also possible to disparage a person himself because I claim that his behavior proves his character?
Where there is blasphemy, the rabbi is not respected. Beyond that, even someone endowed with excellent analytical ability and extensive knowledge is not necessarily a scholar. Common sense is an important part of the package.
If there is no desecration of the Lord and he is a Tah, is it permissible to disrespect a Tah who speaks nonsense [in my opinion]?
not
