Is a writer a literary scholar? Is a scientist a philosopher of science? The fact that philosophy deals with aesthetics as Donne’s subject does not mean that dealing with aesthetics is necessarily philosophy. The painter is more of a work of art, and the philosopher discusses the meaning of the work and the ways to judge it and the meaning of the creative process.
