Before blind
Yesterday I drove my grandmother, who is a nursing assistant, to her house, and on the way she asked to stop in Ariel at a Russian store to buy things that aren’t available in her locality, Ali, such as shrimp and pork.
I took her there for several reasons, a. It’s not like handing a glass of wine to a monk because there he believes in God only in a moment of difficulty and wants to commit a transgression, so don’t help him, but here, she simply doesn’t believe and like in the case at the beginning of a great rule, there is one transgression that continues and I don’t know how much each ounce of flesh matters (although if you look at the meta of what the transgression affects, it might really matter, only with regard to a blind man might this argument be true) b. If I didn’t buy it, it would create an anti in her, especially since it’s her opportunity to buy things that aren’t in her locality, and she’ll be home now for a week, so it was critical for her
Then another question arose whether I was allowed to enter a deli and carry her shopping cart and help her, and I simply answered that the prohibition against entering a store that sells carrion was in reality that there was no way to distinguish the pieces of meat themselves, and therefore people would trust that you were entering, but here, where the entire store, God bless you… there is no concern, and from the appearance of the matter. You can really see that I am entering with my grandmother, who is a nurse, and not for myself.
Our Lord has taught us and our reward is double from heaven.
Well, for double the salary, how can I not answer?! 🙂
I agree that I am not blind here. Hand-feeding is forbidden, but assisting is permissible. See my article on the fall of a secular person into transgression.
Thank you Rabbi!
And regarding the entrance to the store?
Simply put, a prohibition on appearance is not because others will come to eat or shop there, but because suspicion will arise about you. Although if it is clearly seen that you entered only to help her, there may be room for leniency, but still if you can avoid it, it is better.
