Desecration of Shabbat on Corona Drive
The story of the incident is as follows:
At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, we sent a group of yeshiva students to the Corona Drive complexes in Israel.
The complexes operated for about 8 hours a day – from late morning until late afternoon.
Drivers were not forced to come for the tests on the same day, but each driver chose an appointment at a time convenient to them.
They wanted to open the complexes on Shabbat, which involved a number of halachic problems of affixing stickers and directing vehicles to travel on the lanes.
Was it permissible to operate the complexes out of considerations of global safety? If so, why shouldn’t the same subjects be forced to come on the same day on Fridays as well?
