Haredim VS Secularists – Human Life
Peace and blessings,
After being exposed to the spectacle of “Corona” prayer reciters on Yom Kippur, I would like to ask the rabbi whether it is possible that secularists are more careful about preserving human life compared to Haredim. I understand that the question is annoying and sounds like a statement, but I thought that I might be right in my observation, if only for the reason that in secularism there is no situation of (allegedly) supreme values as there are in religion, in any religion, humane values do not conflict with values related to the outside worlds, and therefore the validity of basic human values is greater and is expressed openly and for all to see?
I would appreciate your comment, Benjamin

In general, I only have what my eyes see…
By the way, how does the rabbi explain the positive rates compared between the general and Haredi sectors?
There are many explanations. The overcrowding, lack of exposure to the media, poverty, the disdain that was there at the beginning, and also the problematic instructions that were given later (like for yeshiva students).
By the way, I live in Har Nof, which is considered a Haredi neighborhood, and the situation is probably much worse in more Haredi neighborhoods.
The rabbi was blessed with good neighbors, and I wish I had such neighbors too.
Neighbors are something you can choose. If you're so unhappy, why not change your surroundings?
Why does the rabbi refer to the disdain that existed at the beginning and not refer at all to the disdain today, is the problem really in overcrowding, poverty, lack of exposure to the media?

It seems to me that the rabbi's words are nothing more than an attempt to discuss “the merits” and nothing more
Why not change the environment? Indeed, I intend to change, there are better neighborhoods, Beit HaKerem, etc. Until today, this was not possible for financial reasons, then the Corona virus arrived and put everything into proportion.
Benjamin, how does it feel at the end of the fast, when we are free and pure from all sin, and free from the gossip and unnecessary hatred that we have accumulated throughout the year? Huh?

One of the reasons for the increase in the number of 'positives' in a particular place is the increase in the number of tests that are done in that place. As it is written: 'You tested and found out, believe me' 🙂 In some yeshivas, they conducted proactive tests at the beginning and end of the time, which they did not do in any other sector. If they had tested all the participants in the demonstrations and those sitting in the cafes and parties, it is assumed that they would have found out.
Also regarding tests that are conducted on those who have developed symptoms and those who have come into contact with them, it turns out that the number of 'positives' will increase according to the number of people in the house, because inside the house, no one keeps a distance from each other. It is not for nothing that they say that about two-thirds of infections occur at home. Maybe it's worth deciding that everyone will spend the night on the street 🙂
Best regards, Sh”t
Dear S.C., the absolute number of positives is meaningless, the "percentage" of positives is not affected at all by the number of tests, it's a waste of time you're investing in this delusional claim.

Hello,
According to you, the second paragraph in the response to which you commented was dedicated.
The percentage of ’positive’ tests increases when the number of infected people in a house increases, where no social distancing is observed. If in neighborhood X there is an average of 3 people per house, and in neighborhood Y there is an average of 9 people per house – it is likely that the percentage of ’positive’ will be three times higher.
If the percentage in neighborhood Y is less than three times higher than in neighborhood X – it should be assumed from this that the people of neighborhood V are more careful in maintaining social distancing outside, do not go to debauchery parties; and do not sit crowded and without masks in cafes, and do not jump and hug at demonstrations.
Best regards, Sh”C
Another factor that lowers the percentage of positives among ‘beepers’ of high socioeconomic status is the failure of those with symptoms to go to a public doctor who will report or send them for testing. Those who do not want to be tested and go into isolation, etc. can hide their condition from a private doctor. All the more so during demonstrations when those who take care of their funding can take care of hiding the results.
A serious statistical test can be done by precisely segmenting the population by the size of the sectors, as is done in election polls. Has anyone thought of doing such a test?
Best regards, Sh.
In my opinion, however, all the 'meditation' is unnecessary.
After all, the basic protective measures - masks, distancing, preventing crowded gatherings and ensuring ventilation - can and should be taken in any case, and with them it is possible to continue living an economic and social life to the extent that they are careful and do not go wild.
'Lockdown' It is not useful, because when they open it, the situation will return to normal with even greater ‘damn’, and the medical and psychological dangers of destroying economic and social life are incomparably greater than the dangers of the Corona.
This means: no matter how high the statistics go, such and such percentages – what does it matter to practical leadership? We have no choice but to maintain a routine of life as cautious as possible while taking basic protective measures.
Sh”t, come on, leave…
In short (to the left)
Most infections occur at home, so it is clear that the higher the number of people in the house, the greater the number of infections.
To determine the effectiveness of the protective measures taken outside, the rate of positive cases must be divided by the average number of people, and only then can we compare different regions or sectors.
Best regards, Sh.
Someone who infects twice as many people when they get infected needs to be twice as careful. I was happy to help.
Secular people are blind and stupid enough to believe and think that the ultimate goal of their existence is not to get sick with Corona.
In short, religious compulsion is a type of ‘readings’. Distrust in the tradition of the fathers or in accepted rulings. A person ‘builds a platform for himself’ and is stricter than what the jurists have ordered to be lenient, and about this the bard said: ‘And I was disgusted with your law and chose my law’ (from ‘You are my desire’ said by the Sephardim at the beginning of Yom Kippur).
There is a place to practice the virtue of piety and to be dignified and to do ‘before the law’ When there is a basis in halakhah for this arrangement, but even here extreme caution is needed, lest it lead to irritation or pride and to harm and disdain others, as the Ramachal explained in Mesilat Yesharim, in the chapter on the “Weight of Hasidism.”
With best wishes, Sh.
The above comment was written here by mistake. Its place is in the discussion about ‘religious and Ossid’.
Best regards, Sh”t

And in the test of the result, it turns out, according to the data provided today by the Director General of the Ministry of Health, that the mortality rates from corona in the Haredi sector are lower than in the general population, even though the rate of infection in the Haredi population is higher (28% compared to 15%) – The mortality rates among the Haredi are lower than in the general population
With the blessing of ‘Marebeh Torah – Marebeh Chaim’, Sh–tz
And I already explained above that for a comparative measurement of the effectiveness of protective measures outside – the percentage of infected people must be divided by the average number of people in each household.
