Learn in order to do!!
Hello Rabbi
I don’t understand why the rabbi objects to the statement that the purpose of study is so that we know what to do.
The simple answer is that the purpose of the Torah is for us to learn and know what to do, “and you will learn them and keep them to do them.”
It is quite clear to me that the Rambam and the Rosh did not seek 7 simple truths in the Gemara nor did they attempt to seek validity underground, but rather strove to understand the truth according to their understanding. This is also evident from many of the sources of the Sages:
Rabbi Yishmael his son says: He who studies in order to teach, has enough in his hand to study.
And to teach, and he who learns in order to do, is sufficient in his power to learn and teach to keep
And do.
The Mishnah explains that the purpose of learning is to learn in order to
To do, a study that leads to the clarification of man’s duties in his world.
And so it is said in the “Midrash David”, which is attributed to
To Rabbi David the Governor, grandson of Maimonides:
And this level is the highest according to my name, that he may learn Torah, and that he may be the goal.

And the truth is that this is an explicit verse in Joshua.
Joshua Chapter 1 Verse 8
(8) This book of the Torah shall not depart from you, but you shall meditate on it day and night . Be careful to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make your way successful, and then you will have success:

I completely disagree with your words
1. It is clear from the words of the Maimonides and from his ruling system that he did not study as the Rabbi wants them to study - more division and more division and 7 possibilities to simplify the Gemara, but rather he sought to reach the halachic truth {he himself said that there are many unnecessary digressions in the Gemara}
