Logic training

שו”תCategory: generalLogic training
asked 3 years ago

Do you think someone who claims to be a Maggid Shiur, Rosh Yeshivah, etc. who gives lessons with care should undergo training and study of subjects such as logic and philosophy?
In other words: Is the fact that there is no such formal education in yeshivot a disadvantage? Given the fact that there is a great deal of overlap between Talmud in I’in and these disciplines?

I don’t think so. Common sense is enough to give a lesson in thought. Professional study of logic is usually not necessary. Even the sages had no training in logic. Of course, any study can add to it, but it is not a necessary condition.
