Happy New Year, enjoy the design of the site.
The Gemara states, “There is nothing between this world and the days of the Messiah except the servitude of kingdoms.”
Is it permissible to believe that the Messiah is a parable for the State of Israel, in which the world truly operates as it should, except for the fact that the people of Israel have their own government and are not dependent on the nations as in the Diaspora, or is it obligatory to believe that the Messiah is a specific person who will reign over us?

You can believe in anything. The question of whether you can believe in something is irrelevant. If that’s what you believe, then the fact that you believe in it. You can’t forbid or permit or force a person to believe in something. As for your question, it is clear that the Messiah does not have to be a person and the descriptions of him are metaphorical and not always well-founded. But the mere fact that in the State of Israel there is no change from the world’s customs is not a sufficient basis for this conclusion. In the US there is no change from the world’s customs either. In short, there is no way to answer the question of whether this is true or not.
