On the commandment to love God

שו”תCategory: Talmudic studyOn the commandment to love God

Previously, we talked about the commandment of faith. Is this a general title for all the commandments or a commandment in itself? You told me that it is a general title because it does not belong to the commandment of faith.
What about the commandment to love the name of your God? Is this a real commandment, and if so, what is the meaning of commanding to love?

I suggested that perhaps this is a title, because it is difficult to accept a mitzvah on faith. I am not sure that this is the intention of the Rambam, although according to him there are such mitzvahs. See עשע צע-צו in the Sefer Hamitvot.
Regarding the meaning of the commandment to love, two comments: A. It is possible to command to love. In faith, this is a logical problem; in love, it may be a psychological problem, and I am not at all sure about that either. A person can develop love in his heart on his own initiative. But in my opinion, this is a commandment to the intellect, not to the emotions. See my comments on this matter. Here on the site.
