Question about Torah study – following the last interview in the first edition
Hello Rabbi Michael,
After demanding your safety and well-being..,
I wanted to understand how you see the great importance of studying Torah.
If a rant is better than a teacher of the confused (matters of faith and thought), what is there in studying Torah that is of interest in learning it?
There are commandments. The poskim will teach us how to fulfill them.
Why is it important that I, as a person who does not make decisions, study Torah?
And in light of the fact that you described that you do not experience religious experiences, do you not have a religious experience in studying Torah?
thanks,
The purpose of study is not to know what to do, but rather study is a value in itself (devotion to God, according to Rabbi of Volozhin).
It’s quite surprising to me that you think that if the study included a legend, then there would be a point in studying it, but not in Halacha. That the legend would be studied by literary scholars.
I explained these things in detail in my trilogy.
