Regarding the “discrimination” of Ethiopians at Barkan Wineries, I wanted to ask your opinion .
On the one hand, it seems to me that they are allowed as a Jewish people not to accept the Jewishness of Ethiopians, and as a result not to allow them to approach the wine. The decision of the Chief Rabbinate or other Jewish elders does not bind them. This is not racism, just as preventing Gentiles or secular people from approaching the wine is not racism. .
On the other hand, there is room to say that there was racism here. Racism stems from generalization, since stereotypes are usually true in general, and our aversion to them is because of their generalizing use without respect for the individual. In this case, it seems to me that there was generalization here, since the Badatz refrained from discussing each Ethiopian individually, and issued a general directive not to employ Ethiopians at all in anything related to wine. .
Am I right ?

No. If Ethiopians are not Jews then this is a general statement and not an unjustified generalization.
I am currently writing a column about the case and its relationship to racism.
