Shaking pets on Saturday

שו”תCategory: HalachaShaking pets on Saturday

Hello Rabbi,
I wanted to ask what you think about pet rocking on Saturday?
I know there are quite a few rabbis who are uncomfortable with this issue, although I’ve never understood why. So I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I was thinking yesterday, can a Risha’s comma order that it is permitted? Otherwise, what kind of a God would cut off the head of a hawk for the child if he is assigned?

Who moves uncomfortably? Of course it is allowed. Assigned animals are not pets (that’s a modern concept). Pets are no different from anything else that is available for your use.
But a Risha ruling cannot constitute evidence, for three reasons: 1. A rooster is not a pet (although there is a consensus here that if a rooster is permitted, then a pet is certainly permitted. But animals that are not pets are certainly prohibited by the law of the Gemara, and yet there is a ruling on a Risha ruling). 2. The ruling on a Risha ruling belongs to the realm of Torah, and therefore there is no impediment for the Gemara to discuss a case in which a person cut off the head of a rooster even if there is a rabbinical prohibition on this. 3. It is possible to make an okumta that he cut off its head without moving it (although simply using a mukta is also prohibited). But really, this is unnecessary chatter. It has nothing to do with the discussion.

Thank you very much, for a second when I read your answer I thought I was hallucinating and maybe it really is not common to allow pets, but I saw that it is indeed mentioned like that in several books of halacha for Shabbat, as I think it is presented in a kind of sage regulation that it is forbidden to make any use of animals on Shabbat.
I did mean 1, let alone 1.
3 sounds a bit puzzling, although possible. And 2 I am not well-versed enough to calculate how common it is.

Also, regarding 3, is there a problem with using the head piece from Din Molid or something like that? If so, then that explains 2 well.

K, not a midian gives birth unless then a midian is born. It is to be discussed, but I do not think that this is something new that is born here. Even an egg prepared in the womb of a mother or a ready chick is not born.
