Studying for a test on Shabbat
Is it permissible to print out study material and study for a test on Shabbat, or is this really preparation from the sacred to the secular and halachically forbidden?

Simply put, the problem is not preparation from the sacred to the mundane, but rather mundane acts. If the test is in Torah matters, then it is permissible.
