Studying philosophy.
Rabbi Shlop, I am a yeshiva student interested in studying philosophy as an autodidact. In which areas should I start, and how should I study them?
There is no uniform prescription for this matter. It depends on your inclinations and interests. I suggest you start reading introductions to philosophy, even the Wikipedia entry, and progress according to what you find. I started with logic, a field that in some sense forms the basis for everything else. There are many introductory books to logic. An Introduction to Logic by Irving Coffey, and a more complex and difficult Introduction to the Theory of Logic by Hugo Bergman. For more systematic and comprehensive study, there are Open University courses on various topics.
