The commandment of studying Torah

שו”תCategory: HalachaThe commandment of studying Torah

Hello Rabbi
If one fulfills the obligation of studying Torah by performing the evening and morning prayers, why is this commandment even necessary, when there are already evening and morning prayers?

Of course, one can divide according to intentions. When a person recites Shema in order to receive the yoke of the Kingdom of Heaven, he fulfills the commandment of KSH and not TAT. Only if he intends to TAT does he go forth from YADAH TAT. But beyond that, I think the commandment to study Talmud Torah is just a hint at the non-halakhic aspect of Talmud Torah that is important. I discussed this in a class here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAFe4p7SDrw And in my articles last afternoon (which for some reason have not yet been uploaded to the site).
