The date line in Kozari

19 The minister said: Does not the determination of the days begin with the cold, because it is the beginning of the east to the west?

The companion said: And is not the beginning of the Sabbath not because if it were from Sinai and from Alush before, then it would begin with the manna descending from there, and the Sabbath would not be established except upon him upon whom the sun returned from Sinai to the stage to the rear of the west, and then so to that which is under the earth, and then so to the east of the settlement. And the Sabbath shall be called a Sabbath in the land of Israel after the eighth hour, because the land of Israel is in the midst of the Sabbath, and when the sun comes into the land of Israel, it is midnight in the Sabbath, and when the sun comes into the land of Israel, it is midnight in the Sabbath. And this is the secret of the determination that is built on eighteen hours, as they said: One is born before half past nine knowing that a cloud appears to set in the heat, and the direction is to the Land of Israel, which is the place of the Torah, and it is the place where Adam was taken down from the Garden of Eden on the night of the Sabbath, and from it the beginning of the six-day long rain. In the beginning, and Adam began to call the days by their names, and all that inhabited the earth, and many of the sons of men, were scribes of the days, as Adam founded them, and therefore the sons of men shall not divide the seven days of the week, which began at noon, the end of the setting in the west, and it was the coming of the sun in the land of Israel, and in it the first light was created. And then the sun, because it was light and came to its time and there was night and there was a sitting and the order went from night to day, as He said: And there was evening and there was morning, and so the Torah warned: From evening to evening you shall keep your sabbath. And do not accuse me of these things that look like thieves of wisdom. And their intention was not to steal, but they found wisdom sufficient from the time that prophecy ceased, and they became wiser than their own wisdom and formed groups whose understanding they had given, and in addition to this, they put the beginning of the days in opposition to the Torah, but not in complete opposition, because they agreed with the people of the Torah at the beginning of the day. That is from the cold, but the division between us and them is that we have put the night before the day. And it is necessary that the eighth hour should be the beginning of the reading of the days of the Sabbath, because the Land of Israel, which is the place of beginning for reading the names of the days, between it and the sun, at the time of beginning the reading of the name, is six hours, and we do not move to continue the name of the Sabbath, in the imagination, at the beginning of the day that began. The sun was going around from the end of the west, and a man saw it setting, and he was in the land of Israel, and he called the beginning of the Sabbath, until it reached his head, eighteen hours later, and it was evening, the beginning of the cold, and the beginning of the Sabbath was called there, and it was the end of the walls of the calling, because of what was six behind it, indeed it was called as it was. From the east to the place that was appointed from the beginning of the days, and there is no escape from the place of the participant. The beginning of its east will be the beginning of its east and the end of its west, and that is for the Land of Israel the beginning of the settlement. And this is not only in the law of the Torah, but also in the law of nature, for it would not be proper for the seven days to be called by one name in itself to encompass the whole of it, unless a place was determined that would be the beginning of the calling, and a place that was close by, that its end would not be from east to west, but its end would be from the east to the west. Gamur. And if you do not pay for the days of the calling of the name of Yadav, from the shekel of every place around the land, from the east and from the west together, and the east will be the land of Israel and the west will be the land of the land, and the land of the land will be from the east to the east and from the west to the west, and the west will be from the east to the land of the land and the west to the land of Israel. And there is no east and no west and no beginning and no end and no known names for the days, and the one who remembers gave known names to the days of the land of Israel, but the name of the Lord is wide on all sides because it is impossible to remember the places of every point and point of the land, because in Jerusalem its strength is from many easts and wests, And that from the east of Zion, the path of the proverb is not from the east of the Temple, and the circles of their paths are directed on the path of truth, which the wise will not reach, all that dwells in Damascus from Jerusalem, and it is impossible not to say that the conquest of Damascus preceded the conquest of Jerusalem, and the conquest of Jerusalem preceded the conquest of Egypt, and on all sides it is a foreign land. In the wide. And the space in which the ketars are divided in the reading of the day itself is eighteen hours, not decreasing or increasing, the men of this ketar call the Sabbath, and the men of one ketar go out one ketar after another ketar until eighteen hours are completed from the time in which the reading of the Sabbath began, until the sun is set for the people. The head of the land of Israel, and the reading will cease from that day and no one will remain who will read that day, but will begin with the reading of the name that follows it, and therefore they said: “He was born before half past midnight, knowing that he saw a high sun at the setting of the sun,” as if he had said: He was born before half past midnight on the Sabbath in Jerusalem, knowing that he saw a high sun on the Sabbath. The setting of the sun, which is the time on the Sabbath day, begins immediately, eighteen hours after the recitation of the prayer from the place where it began, until the sun sets for the people of the land of Israel after a day and night, and it is obligatory to observe the moon for those who were at the beginning of the cold on the Sabbath evening, and they agree with what our rabbis said, “that it is necessary “Let there be a night and a day from the new moon.” And so the name of the Sabbath was removed from the Yishuv and the first day began, even though the inhabitants of the land of Israel departed from the name of the Sabbath day and returned on the first day, because they believed that the meaning of the Sabbath name, which prevails throughout the Yishuv, would be said to those who were in the east and those who were in the west, You have appointed a day for the beginning of the year, and have said that the Sabbath is a day of rest, even though one of them was a great man, and he went out from the feast when the other was in the feast, from their places in the land of Israel, but in the proclamation of the seventh day, the feast was for them on one day in itself. And behold, the knowledge of the Sabbaths of the Lord and the feasts of the Lord is a burial in the land that is The Lord’s inheritance, with what is its name, since it is called His holy mountain and Hades are His feet and the gate of heaven and that from Zion will go forth the Torah, and what was the haste of the fathers from generation to generation in it and it is in the hands of the servants of a foreign service, and their money for it and their offerings of their strength to it like Jacob and Joseph, and Moses’ entreaty to see it, and it was prevented from him and it was Anger, and she saw him from the top of the mountain and was gracious, and what was the use of the nations of Persia and India and Greece and their desire to sacrifice to them and to pray before them in that great house, and what was taken from their wealth for that place, and if they were firm in other laws, because the true custom did not accept them, and what Whom they exalt now with the multitude of the visions of the Shekinah upon him, and who all the nations celebrate with him, and who confess to him our lowliness in the face of our exile and our oppression, and from what our ancestors remembered of her exploits, his story will be long.
In my opinion, the things are full of contradictions. I would appreciate your conclusion regarding the date line from the text (I think the intention is that the date line runs through the middle of China).

It’s hard for me to comment, since I’m not familiar with the issue. I’m not even sure about the methodology to decide on it (for example, should I rely on the sources of the Sages, who did not fully understand astronomy and the structure of the Earth?)
