The impact of education on the genome

Hey Miki
Today I went to the Technion about my invention, as usual equipped with a portrait of “Makor Rishon”. Inside Neve Sha’anan I changed buses – from line 123 I got on to line 19, and then I realized I had forgotten the newspaper on the bus.
I finished the meeting, and returned to the bus station, waiting for line 19 so that I could take it to the Neve Sha’anan center to change buses. A 144 passed by, I asked if I could take it to the Hamifratz center, and in short, the driver and another passenger convinced me to take that line.
Then I found the newspaper on the seat behind the driver, patiently waiting for me…
To be honest, I don’t know if this is the same newspaper or if it’s just its twin brother, but the newspaper was open to the same article I read. [And there are a few more questions on the subject…]
Now on the phone: A few days ago I noticed that the water in the bottles on the refrigerator door was not cold.
I checked the temperature. It was 10 degrees.
I pushed the thermometer deep into the refrigerator, and saw that the temp there was indeed 0.
I frowned, went to the recycling center, and found a board of compressed polystyrene foam about 10 mm thick.
I adjusted it to the size of the refrigerator door, and attached it loosely [on purpose!] to the door.
After an hour I checked the temp – and here it is 4!
All this at the cost of 30 minutes of work by a retiree and 60 cm of wide duct tape.

On the structure of the brain – I read an article that says that since it is possible to monitor the various activities of the brain using MRI, a study was conducted on psychopaths incarcerated in a prison in the US, in which it was possible to observe the characteristics of the brain of psychopaths, the starting assumption was that the level of empathy of psychopaths for the suffering of others is lower than normal. [When this is expressed in certain areas of the brain.]
However, it turned out that some of these neurological characteristics also exist among a “normative” population.
And then, during the research, it turned out that psychopaths make up about 1% of the total population. But among chairmen of financial companies, they make up 4%!
The article ends with the question of whether our personality is dictated to us in advance by the structure of the brain and its systems. When the question becomes more acute, whether the evil one acts due to constraints of the structure of his brain, then the righteous one must also act in the same way. [On the variety of philosophical, ethical and theological questions – all of these are my additions, of course]. But for my part, this is not the end of the verse, because I remembered an article I read a few years ago, and to my delight, Dr. Google helped me find it:
Practicing meditation not only helps with daily functioning, but also has a beneficial effect [lengthens!] on telomeres.
What I want to argue corresponds with the old argument about which is stronger: heredity or environment?
I believe that the environment – education, love, and adversity – can also have an effect at the genomic level, and I just recently read an article that cautiously helps guide this line of thinking.
Finally, my surgery has been postponed until the end of the month, and I am trying to use the time to promote my invention in contacts with Beit Shemesh Engines.
All the best

Education cannot affect the genome, but only the brain. Our genome from birth accompanies us to the bitter end. Up to 120.

Hi Mikhi
It is true that education cannot influence our genome, but apparently relaxation techniques and yoga affect gene expression, and studies are being conducted that confirm the claim that the change in gene expression is heritable. If you want, I will send you a summary of a study at Harvard Medical School on the subject. [In English!]

It is clear that environment changes, but not genes but behavior (which is not determined solely by genes). For more extreme approaches, see Hava Yablonka, Evolution in Four Dimensions.
