Hello Rabbi,

I understand that you are an interactional dualist, my question is how is there a connection between different objects? How does this work out in the mind?

I didn’t understand the question. Just as there is an influence between material bodies, there can also be an influence of the soul on a material body. What does this have to do with getting along with the mind?

How does the spirit have an effect on the material body? How exactly does this happen, these are two completely different objects.

I understand that we do experience an effect, but how does it have a mental explanation beyond our experience?

As mentioned, I don't understand what the problem is. So what if these are two types of objects? Plastic and iron are also two types of objects. You're just stuck.

דודו replied 6 months ago

Plastic and iron are both material. So it makes sense that they would affect each other. But the spirit is not material (spiritual). When exactly does the spirit enter the body and affect it? And also how exactly does that happen? If I'm not mistaken, Leibowitz thought it was an insoluble paradox.

Not a paradox, not even close to it. The only problem is with the laws of physics, which only describe effects between material objects. Indeed, such an effect goes beyond physics, and that's no wonder, since we're talking about a non-physical entity. What's with that and the paradox?
