Throwing away leftover vegetables and fruits in the Shmita

שו”תCategory: HalachaThrowing away leftover vegetables and fruits in the Shmita
asked 4 years ago

peace,
Like most people, I suppose I sometimes throw organic food scraps (peels, what you don’t eat from an apple, etc.) into various places in nature (in a way that they won’t see it so that it doesn’t look like garbage). Or for example, I have a small garden at home (only weeds grow there) that I sometimes throw there. The question is whether this is forbidden during the Shmita year because it might pollute the soil or for other reasons. thanks

Sorry for the delay. For some reason I missed this question.

See here that there is no prohibition regarding the loss of the fruits: https://www.hidabroot.org/article/1158531
Regarding the sowing, see here: https://www.hidabroot.org/%D7%99%D7%9C%D7%A7%D7%95%D7%98-%D7%99%D7%95%D7%A1%D7%A3/%D7%94%D7%9C%D7%9B%D7%95%D7%AA-%D7%AA%D7%A8%D7%95%D7%9E%D7%95%D 7%AA-%D7%95%D7%A9%D7%9E%D7%99%D7%98%D7%94/%D7%94%D7%9C%D7%9B%D7%95%D7%AA- %D7%96%D7%99%D7%91%D7%95%D7%9C-%D7%91%D7%A9%D7%91%D7%99%D7%A2%D7%99%D7%AA
Although if it’s not a place where people sow, I don’t think it’s a waste.
