Special clothing for prayer
I asked on the site a few days ago, maybe the question was missed –
As far as I know, there is a law that requires special clothing to be worn in prayer (perhaps only dignified, and not necessarily special clothing?). Does this mean that it is necessary to pray with a robe? Many Haredim pray with a hat. Does this come from this rule or is it purely cultural?
Apologies. I remember seeing it and I don’t know why I didn’t answer. You have to be respectful, not necessarily special. Even the suit that is customary to wear in Haredi society is not special clothing for prayer. It’s purely cultural, because it is culture that determines what is respectful clothing.
Thank you very much!
