I’m trying to get into the online translation field and am building a portfolio to do so. I have an opportunity to translate an American TV series for an Israeli website that allows viewing of series for free. In this case, I am responsible for obtaining the files for the series in question, which are available on one of the English pirate sites. The series went out of print a few years ago, and there may be a way to watch them privately legally for a fee, but without Hebrew subtitles. Does my initiative to translate and upload the series to viewers in Israel constitute copyright infringement or theft of any kind? Thanks in advance.

I think so (meaning it is forbidden), but it is better to ask a lawyer who is knowledgeable in the law. According to Halacha, what determines this matter is the law.
