Is hiding information from my wife a violation of fidelity (not talking about its effect on the relationship)?
From a moral and ethical perspective, is there a disadvantage in not telling my wife details about me, such as sharing information that others have told me and not wanting anyone else to know about it, not even my wife?
In summary: Hiding information from your partner (when it is not related to the marital relationship) is this the required lack of loyalty?
No. If you are asked not to tell, perhaps there is no prohibition against telling because the narrator has to take this into account. But it is appropriate to ask him about it. If, as you wrote, the narrator does not want it to reach your wife, it seems to me that it is simply not worth telling.
