Amalek

What is the difference between our attitude towards Amalek and the difference between racial theory?
When I asked this of several rabbis, they claimed that according to Maimonides they have a choice, and if they make peace with us there is no reason to harm them, and therefore it is not similar to the Torah of race, but in my opinion we should not ignore the fact that at least according to Rashi (in the parashah Ki Titze Kamadun) and according to R.A. in the Mekhilta, things are not like that.
So what is the fault of a modern-day Amalekite (if he exists) in that his ancestors were taught by us? All the Hasidic teachings about them being the foundation of evil, etc., really remind me of the theory of race.
Why choose difficult methods if you can choose more reasonable methods?
Beyond that, if God Almighty determined the matter, then it is not a human decision that stems from racism.
I agree that perhaps the comparison to the theory of race is incorrect, but where is man's free choice? Why should we be obligated to kill an Amalekite who did nothing? What is the logic in that? Is it justice?
The Amalekites did. My assumption is that Amalek is a people who educate all their sons for war and murder. If you were told to kill all the Nazis (including children, who are educated in the Hitler Youth and grow up to be Nazis and murderers), would you also ask that question?
Aren't they still a little hard on their kids? These are 3-year-olds.
