Moti Ravid

שו”תMoti Ravid
asked 5 years ago

“This is truly one of the wildest events in the history of the State of Israel. There has never been an entire audience that unleashes violence in such a way and kills people. I don’t understand what the connection is between religion and what they are doing. They were educated to accept everything and give nothing for years. There is no connection between faith and religion and what they are doing.”
Prof. Ravid added: “There is a defiance here of ‘me and nothing more’. They have become accustomed to receiving everything and giving nothing for years, and this is one of the reactions. I don’t think there are religious characteristics here, it’s a broken education of the population. The rabbis, the ones who exist, the wise ones, are shouting ‘stop’ – but there is an audience that doesn’t listen.”
Do you accept these statements?
Is it good that he was fired?

I read that he resigned, not that he was fired. In my opinion, he is absolutely right.

But circles from all political spectrums condemned it
As if everyone is afraid of the Haredim?

As you know, there is an anti-racist and politically correct hysteria these days and this is part of it. Add to that the sentiment towards the Haredim (they look like my grandfather), which I mentioned here not long ago, and you will get some of these reactions.

The man changed his mind radically within 72 hours and was probably fired... I wonder where you got the idea that he resigned?!

It is indeed likely that if Iluli had been terminated from his job, either by being fired or by having his thigh broken, he would not have attacked the people around the hospital he runs all the time. But the termination of his job is merely the removal of the obstacle that allows him to vent his feelings, not false revenge. As long as he worked there, he would have acted like a criminal lawyer who is interviewed on the radio and insists that his client is innocent.

B”t Here he is already apologizing Professor Ravid https://twitter.com/KolBarama/status/1314246084210962435?s=20
The things I said are out of frustration and pain, and I know it's unnecessary and I said that the majority of the Haredi public adheres to the rules. There is a minority in the public that breaks the yoke and they don't listen to their rabbis either.
I wonder what happened to the lawyer of our criminals after he no longer has any interest and fear of his clients…

This is the story, and nothing more, https://twitter.com/yoelituv/status/1314072238434516992?s=20

He “apologizes” So what, and does anyone live from his mouth? As far as I'm concerned, he's just a trumpet that loudly voiced what I also think, with or without him. His publicistic apology, like if an absolute Epicurus were forced to say I want to give a divorce, is of course not worth the hype.

תם. replied 5 years ago

Who dared to apologize to him?!
It seems that no matter what happens, even if it is proven that he was a fool, you will not change your mind due to his dismissal.
Your opinion, R’ B”t, regarding the conduct of the Haredim is not the discussion here, the discussion was about the authentic words of the guy.

Who is wearing *

I will indeed not change my mind based on his words. And did you change your mind about the conduct of the Haredi sector before he apologized?

If he were to say things from the hospital and data that only he knows or a comprehensive analysis that concerns his expertise and experience as a doctor, then his words would have special weight. But when he speaks in general based on a database that is mainly known to a similar extent to him and others – then his opinion is that of a human being, and only the matter of public publication has a curious interest in his position and status.

And from this you will understand that the discussion about the authentic words of the guy does not depend on the question of whether the guy repeated them or not. But only on the opinion about the content of his words.

Why he said what he said is a question for psychologists. In fact, his description does not match descriptions from outside observers* of the Haredi conduct during the pandemic. Since these are observers who have no reason to specifically side with the Haredi, there is no reason to assume that they are lying.

* Brigadier General Gal Hirsch for his work in Elad and Roni Linder from The Marker on Bnei Brak. Both described a public mobilization and seriousness that I wish every public in Israel would adopt.

And here Guy Zohar brings out the real truth behind Ravid's words, and we have the agreement of the Rebbe of Lod, who in his eyes is completely right.

By the way, the Rebbe of Lod, a follower of Guy, mentioned this several times.
