Halacha – ruling or exposure?

On the one hand, the rabbi’s approach is well-known, in that a rabbi is essentially supposed to reveal the halacha and present the methods, and it is up to the questioner to decide what to do.
On the other hand, in the series of lessons on Halacha and Reality, the Rabbi showed that the posek must have expertise in drawing lines and understanding reality (something that not every ordinary person probably has) – how in such a situation does the questioner have the room to decide? The posek brings him the terrifying ruling and that’s it?

There are situations in which there is a clear halachic answer, even if there are no unambiguous standards for it. I was talking about situations in which there are several possible halachic paths, and there the posak must describe them to the questioner and leave the decision to him. Beyond that, in public law, for example, the posak must decide the bottom line.
