How can we explain that from Adam to Abraham, people lived for hundreds of years?

I don’t know. And in general, I’m not sure it really was as described. Not everything that appears there is a literal factual description. There are surprising coincidences and parallels between dozens of generations (chapter 4 and chapter 5), which perhaps suggests that this is not an ordinary factual description.

It is possible that the reference was to distinct tribes that identified themselves with the name of the tribal leader. After 100+ years, the man from whom another identified tribe split was born.
In the same way that you can explain that a snake speaks human language.
