Question about idolatry

שו”תCategory: HalachaQuestion about idolatry
asked 3 years ago

Hello Rabbi, I’m on a trip to Italy. There are many beautiful places from an artistic perspective, but there is a problem of idolatry. I would like to know in general what the restrictions are on this matter, and specifically whether it is permissible to visit churches and cathedrals, and whether there is a difference if they are no longer used as a place of prayer but rather as a museum. thanks!

It is forbidden to enter churches and places of worship. If they are used as a museum for matters unrelated to the Jewish faith, it is possible.
