The purpose of life
The purpose of life in this world
Many times when I asked rabbis why God created the world and created humans in it, I received an answer that God did this because it was the way that would be best for us, that after we work and invest in this world, we would reach the world to come, and receive a reward.
In response to this answer, I always asked why God had to create the entire world for this, after all, He could have caused us to be in the happiest and most joyful state in the best place we could possibly be, without all the long road.
As an excuse, they told me that the path to being the best person only happens when he makes an effort and invests, and not when everything is handed to him on a spoon.
This is the nature of the world; when a person strives and works hard, he enjoys it more and is happier when he reaches the end and the result.
But there is a contradiction here!
Because if God created the world and can do everything, He could have created a world from the beginning in which, in order to reach the highest level of goodness and happiness, one does not have to make an effort or invest, and it is precisely when everything is brought to you with a spoon that it is the greatest pleasure.
He chose that true goodness can only come through hard work, and then brought us into the world so that we could receive this goodness. He could have decided otherwise from the beginning, and we wouldn’t have to invest and make an effort to achieve perfect goodness.
God would simply create a world that is good for us without us having to do anything.
