Hello Rabbi,
Continuing yesterday’s lesson on doubt and statistics – in a re-reading of the Gemara in Kiddushin 33: It seems to me that the Gemara really summarizes there that Rabbi Yaakov’s theory that “the reward of the commandment of the Bahá’í Alma Licha” is well-established and coherent. Does the Rabbi see any reason to claim that Rabbi Yaakov disagrees with Rabbi Yochanan’s theory (to the extent that he is a Tanna who preceded him by two generations) and believes that “to test the Blessed One” is simply not defined, because it is impossible to conduct such an experiment?

Indeed, it appears there. But the Gemara still discusses why we should not assume that there was something here that offset this right. Although it concludes that it did not, and therefore it can be applied to any particular case. Therefore, the conclusion is that the reward of a mitzvah is a Baha’i Alma likha. The entire discussion there is quite questionable in its logic, of course. But to claim that Rabbi Yaakov disagrees with Riyoch is far-fetched. Of course, when there is a great difficulty, issues are disputed. In any case, the column brings Riyoch into line with the law, and I also don’t remember a commentator who writes that there is a dispute here. By the way, I now think that the Gemara’s statement that the commandment to give their wages alongside them is not binding on them somewhat contradicts the conclusion here that this is about the world. It should be strongly rejected.
