Absolutely, absolutely – right?

Toss in Kiddushin 2 A.A. (d. 5 in Parota) speaks of the source of the law of the Shulchan as money. Among other things, he deals with the endowment, and suggests “Who is it in the endowments that one can demand in general and in particular and in general” (like the redemption of the son of Shavuot).
My question is: Is it possible to offer such a sermon in an unfounded manner? They do not cite a source for this sermon (because there is none), and they do not even show which verses this can be claimed from. How does this hold up (or at all)?
Thank you very much.

You can see from the language of the Toss that he is suggesting that perhaps there was such a sermon and it was lost to us. After all, he has a difficulty and this is a possible solution. Incidentally, there is a source for this sermon in other contexts.
