Recruiting women into the IDF

שו”תCategory: HalachaRecruiting women into the IDF

Does the rabbi know or think that there is a halakhic prohibition (regardless of considerations of efficiency for the army, what is in its interest to women, health-wise, mentally, etc.) for women to enlist in a rear or combat role in the army? The closest thing I have seen to a prohibition on this subject is carrying a weapon, which is a “man’s tool,” on a woman, but all the later rabbis have ruled that there is no problem with this.

I used to think so, but in the last mishna I think there is no halakhic prohibition. Weapons are no longer a man’s tool today.
