Considering the following article that states that animals probably have consciousness, should I really stop killing flies and mosquitoes when they bother me?

Can’t see this article, but I have pretty limited trust in headlines like this. Either way, consciousness doesn’t necessarily change their moral standing.
Why?
Perhaps His Excellency will write a proper post on the subject?
