The Western Wall of the Temple Mount is never destroyed.

It is written in the Midrash, “Behold, this stands behind our wall – behind the western wall of the Temple. Why? To whom the Holy One, blessed be He, swore that he would never be destroyed” (Song of Songs Rabbah 2:9).
A. How did our sages know this? After the destruction of the Temple, a prophecy was taken from the sages.
B. The Western Wall of the Temple was indeed destroyed, and does not stand today on the Temple Mount.
thanks

First of all, I have no idea. Second, as far as I know, the Western Wall does stand. As for your question, I estimate that this midrash was said after the destruction, and therefore the Western Wall was already in existence at that time. The risk of saying that it will continue to stand in the future is not so far-fetched in my estimation.

Nathan means that this is not the Western Wall of the Temple Mount, but the Western Wall of the entire Temple Mount, of the complex that surrounded the Temple. This is a well-known claim by Kuifmers.

I didn't really understand what the problem was, the Temple Mount is a general name for the entire Temple Mount, and the "Western Wall" refers to the outer wall of the Temple Mount. The Sages also referred to it in the Midrash.

This is an argument based on the assumption of the desired result, first the presenter assumes that the Wall they were talking about must be the Wall of the Temple itself, and then attacks this fact. (In English, by the way, there is a precise name for this that I have not encountered in Hebrew, the literalism fallacy.)
