The Blessed One decreed the exile of Egypt upon us and He decreed to take us out of there. Should I thank the one who put me in prison for getting me out of it? It is true that this can be asked about any salvation from trouble, but in every trouble it can be said that the trouble came due to my sins and the salvation was through the mercy of God [I assume you will not accept that either]. But the exile of Egypt was decreed several generations in advance, and although Hazal says that it was decreed due to saying what I know, the decree was still predetermined and time-bound. I notice that the question is not well formulated, but the principle is understandable. I would appreciate it if you could expand on the subject in general.

The article is instructive. It still seems to me that it does not answer the question regarding gratitude for salvation from trouble. Indeed, I owe gratitude to the Creator for the very fact that He created me, but why is there an additional obligation of gratitude renewed for taking me out of the trouble that He Himself put me into, when in the Haggadah we say, "Therefore we must give thanks," meaning for bringing us out of Egypt, etc.
I explained (maybe not there?) that this is a psychological opportunity to remember the duty to be grateful for the world and its laws. There really is nothing to be grateful for in terms of the rescue itself, but it is human nature to feel gratitude in such moments, and so we take advantage of them.
Agree with me that this is a somewhat apologetic answer.
It's apologetics if you claim that this was the original intention of the sages. They must have believed in divine involvement. But as far as I'm concerned, it's not really apologetics, because we really should thank God for this, and these are really good opportunities to do so.
