Moral validity

After a quick search, I couldn’t find a similar question, but it’s probably been asked before…
 
I just can’t understand why God is needed for morality to be valid? I understand one thing rationally – suffering is all that matters, and therefore is at the core of all moral action. The second thing is that I was evolutionarily developed with empathy, so I just care about doing the moral thing.
