What does this have to do with their righteousness? They were no more righteous than we are. The explanation I offered is different. What’s the difference between bringing rain and preventing drought? That doesn’t mean there wasn’t any natural evil at all. But there was probably more involvement.

I didn't understand the rabbi, I'll try in a different way. After all, the blessings in the Torah are conditional on them keeping the Torah and mitzvot... and let's assume that they do keep the Torah and mitzvot and the blessings in the Torah are realized in them. Was there still natural evil then, or do the blessings in the Torah also prevent natural evil?
