Halacha rules and choosing a rabbi

שו”תCategory: HalachaHalacha rules and choosing a rabbi

I would be happy for the rabbi to explain what he means when he says that halakha is not hard and fast.. And should a person accept a rabbi who rules like him on every issue? Because, for example, my posak is Rabbi Ovadia, but in practice I do not believe in a small part of his rulings that I think express his agenda (such as the Temple Mount, national service, studying Kabbalah, etc.)

I don’t know what statement of mine you’re talking about. I’ve argued several times that the rules of halakhah are approximations, and one should be careful to take them rigidly. This is unrelated in any way that I can see to the question of which rabbi to choose, if at all. You don’t have to accept any rabbi, but as long as you don’t know, it’s recommended to consult with the rabbis. It’s also worth trying not to choose them based on specific answers (this or that voice), although it is certainly possible to choose them based on character and general worldview.
