Who were the first to define the commandment to study Torah as an existential commandment?

In any case, the matter is almost explicit in the issue of Nedarim 8:1, that beyond the morning and evening chapters, the rest is permitted (and therefore an oath applies to it). Although the Rabbi there writes that this is a Midrash obligation and therefore an oath applies to it, but in the first chapter there he taught it literally. Of course, the intention is to study Torah beyond the minimum of one chapter in the morning and evening. —————————————————————————————— Asks: Quote from a reply by the Rabbi.
