Abortions
It was reported today that a secretary leaked details about women who were going to have abortions to an organization that would convince them not to have an abortion. Of course, the media portrays this with shock and as a serious violation of the law. The question is, from a perspective that sees abortion as murder or something close to it, is it moral to leak someone’s personal details to try to prevent an abortion?
There is a problem here of the ethics of holding a public office, but on the other hand there is an obligation to prevent crime. I tend to think that it is appropriate to do so. After all, if it is permissible to harm the pursuer, why should it be forbidden to disclose his details?
In my opinion, the main question is whether it will be beneficial, of course. Otherwise, there is no justification for violating the rules of ethics.
