Oh my,
How?

What is mathematics anyway?
What is the ”world”?

Questions from the world (What is the world?) that cannot be discussed in isolation. And if it weren't for Demisphina, we would have been replaced by Mr. Air Bader.

What is ”understanding the world” and how does basic mathematics (fractions, powers, etc.) help with this?

I remember that Rabbi Schach really liked the mathematical way of thinking, he said that it imparts the “orderliness”, which is important for studying Torah.
And the Vilna rabbi wrote a book on ’the wisdom of numeracy’ for some reason.

But besides buying thinking tools for analyzing thoughts, does it help with anything else in your opinion?

It is very useful to be proficient in mathematics when studying logic, as synthesizing sentences into a logical language and analyzing them requires similar skills.

Aaron-
Yes, that's what I wrote, the question is whether there is any interest in investing time in mathematics just because it helps with analytical skills or is there another interest in investing time in the subject.

It helps with organized thought, precise definitions, analytical skills, and the content is also important for various needs (even in Halacha). Beyond that, mathematics has theoretical value, and I don't see why it falls short of many chapters in the MUN that deal with philosophical issues that are much less relevant in my opinion, and according to various and strange external sources with Maimonides' personal opinions.

Salshi – Hello,

Most of the great questions in life have no answer in philosophy. On the contrary, philosophy is built on assumptions that are all intuitively based

Mathematical thinking is good in the natural sciences, but the spiritual world and values do not operate according to ‘miracles of the wisdom of reasoning’ (Bela”Z: mathematical proofs). A person reaches one conclusion or another because that is how it settles in his heart more.

Philosophical reflection can help a person understand the complexity of the questions, from which he can understand ‘a camiplegic director’ the different opinions, and from understanding the foundations of each and every method – a person can choose the path that settles more in his heart.

When a person's mind is organized. He understands the flavors of opinions and divides and knows how to define what he connects with the most – He may very well remain in doubt – but not out of a vague feeling.

Another reason that may lead a person to ’mental chaos’ is the feeling that his life is ‘stuck’. When a person feels that his life is flowing without a horizon – everything is confused and vague for him. A person who sits for hours on end studying that does not bring him interest and a practical horizon – will clearly begin to ‘climb walls’ and will enter a feeling of vertigo.

To return to mental order, one must invest time first and foremost in studying that will give him a stable and clear picture. The central systems of the Jewish faith., the Bible with Rashi, Ramban and Radek, the Book of the Kuzari, the Rambam's introduction to his commentary on the Mishnah and the Mishnah Torah, the Book of Education, and the basic books of the Ramachal, the Path of the Righteous and the Way of the Righteous. When the foundations of the Jewish faith are clear to him, a person can enter into a deeper study and also into comparisons with other concepts,

And since man was also created to engage in the settlement of the world, and as the guidance of the sages, it is beautiful to study Torah with the way of the earth, for the attainment of both forgets sin. It is fitting for a person to train himself for a profession in which he will earn a decent living and be able to increase his Torah studies while enjoying financial well-being, and basic mathematics can open many “gates of livelihood.”

When a person is settled in his mind on the material side, it is easy for him to be settled in his mind on the spiritual side and even deepen his understanding!

Regarding the literature of Jewish thought, it is also worth adding: the sermons of the Rabbi; the books of Rabbi Hirsch – Horev, Igrot Tzafon, and his commentaries on the Torah, the Psalms, and the prayer book. The ‘Chapters in Jewish Thought’ by Rabbi Shaul Israeli, and the book by Rabbi Yehoshua Inbal N”u, Introduction to the Oral Torah”.
