Enjoying the music of Az

שו”תCategory: HalachaEnjoying the music of Az

Hello, I recently realized that there is a prohibition against enjoying idolatry and that I may be violating it. I listen to Indian music (chanting) that mentions Hare Krishna, now I don’t understand at all what it is about or the words in Hindi and I use it when I solve exercises for exams (exam period now haha), is this forbidden?

I don’t know Hare Krishna, so it’s hard for me to know whether it’s about a religious person. Assuming it is – indeed, perhaps it’s appropriate to avoid it. I don’t think there’s an actual prohibition, since recording music, even if it was created for a religious person, is itself not an object of a religious person that is forbidden for enjoyment. The same goes for church music.
