Answer: Why does the Rabbi’s opinion differ from the opinion of Rabbi Ofran regarding the recruitment of Haredim?
1. Extreme formulation. I agree that the Torah does not preserve, but it is my opinion that God is not involved. One can cite sources that it preserves, although one can argue about their meaning. But that is not important, because even if it preserves, there is an obligation to enlist. The Torah of a person who enlists also preserves, so this is not a relevant discussion to the question of enlistment. And certainly not to the question of enlistment of the ultra-Orthodox in general (even those who do not study).
2. I do agree with this, like exemptions for artists and athletes, and like assigning soldiers to military bands and the Shekam. I completely agree with what he said about the Haredim.
3. The problem will not be solved through dialogue. That’s clear. But neither will it be solved by forceful coercion to enlist. Severe economic sanctions will certainly contribute.
His words at the end are completely true in my opinion. Not just in relation to conscription. Haredi is a distorted and corrupted Judaism.
