Hello Rabbi Michi,
In the science of freedom, you referred to chaos theory, and according to you, it is a completely deterministic system, and the whole problem is epistemological, that is, the problem is in our inability and not an ontological problem.
Why not say that there is divine intervention, within the chaotic system, after all, we find explicit divine intervention in the Bible, why do you refrain from saying that there is intervention, otherwise the world is supposedly going nowhere, without a specific line, and God has no influence in the world at all.
For exactly the same reason that I don't include free choice in it. There is nothing special about chaos. It is an application of the laws of nature, and if I don't accept exceptions to the laws of nature, then there are no exceptions in chaos either. Of course, it is possible that God is playing with us, hiding within the chaos, but it is unlikely and I have no indication that this is what is happening. The fact is that both in chaos and in quantum mechanics there are distributions that determine what is supposed to happen and it does work. In other words, there is probably no divine intervention (unless He is careful to hide every time He is checked).
Of course, there may be sporadic involvements, through which he may determine the direction the world is going (I have no way of knowing if this exists). But even if it does exist, it is very macro and very rare and not in our daily lives.
I also don't think that this is about ontological freedom and hence learning about freedom of will, but rather that the very epistemological problem allows God to intervene within the deterministic system without being "exposed."
Why do you claim that the effect is so small, after all, a very small effect creates an exponentially growing system, an example of which is the "butterfly effect" which represents a special case in which a butterfly's flapping wings may create small changes in the atmosphere that will ultimately cause a tornado to appear (or alternatively prevent its appearance). The flapping wings represent a small change in the initial conditions of the system, which causes a chain of events leading to a large-scale phenomenon. If the butterfly had not flapped its wings, the trajectory of the system may have been considerably different. I say this in light of the fact that in the Torah, God, the Almighty, is even watching over it openly [at least in plain reading]?
Simply put, it appears from the Torah that at least from the Roman exile until the end of the war of the last days, providence will not operate as a phenomenon clearly visible to the public eye, except for the very fact of the fulfillment of the prophecy of the concealment of the face and the other prophecies of rebuke. Already at the end of the Torah scroll, the current situation is described in the following words:
And I *hid* my face that day for all the evil that he had done (Deuteronomy 10:11).
And he said, *I will hide my face* from them, that I may see what is their end (Proverbs 12:11).
The motif continues in other prophets such as Isaiah.
And I waited for the LORD *who hides his face* from the house of Jacob, and I hoped in him (8:17)
I am the *God who hides*, the God of Israel, the Savior (4:15)
Likewise, when Ezekiel describes the historical-theological context in which the Gog and Magog war takes place (after the incomplete return to the land), the explanation is
According to their uncleanness and according to their sins I did to them *and hid my face* from them (Lev. 26:26).
Only after victory against all odds against the many nations will the concealment of the face cease:
And the Lord your God will turn your heart and the heart of your seed, etc. (Deuteronomy 30)
And also: And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, when I shall have scattered them among the heathen, and shall have gathered them into their own land, and shall leave none of them there any more. *And I will not hide my face any more* from them, when I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 33)
This appears in different formulations in other prophets (such as Hosea 3) and they all teach the same thing. So one might ask how reasonable it is, without relying on the information given to us in Revelation, to think that Providence operates publicly in secret until the "end of days" or does not operate at all. However, one who relies on Biblical Revelation can see that both the concealment of Providence from public view and the specific removal of God's protection over the people are intentional providential actions: "And it came to pass that we shall find him many evils and afflictions, and this song shall be a testimony before him, that he shall not be forgotten from his seed." Our very situation in exile for many years is an exceptional situation by any standard, but its purpose is punishment while fulfilling the prophecies of rebuke. God's providence is learned from the fact that He supposedly refrained from providing: And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries (Ezekiel 12:15).
However, it is possible in principle that within the public national secret, the individual will still be able to identify personal acts of providence towards him (i.e., this is consistent with the prophecy of the Torah).
Her father, please search here on the site. We've been talking about this for ages.
Why settle for little? Ask why God does not reveal himself directly to you, when in the Bible he revealed himself directly to humans.
Why do you look for God in chaos and all sorts of elusive situations? Does it seem reasonable to you that God would act like a creature afraid of being discovered?
The Posk. Why settle for little? Ask why the "self" does not reveal itself to you directly, after all, in the Bible it was revealed directly to humans... Does it seem reasonable to you that the "self" would behave like a creature that is afraid of being discovered?
In other words – there are things that exist even though they are not visible to the naked eye – both in the sub-particle aspect and on the conscious level. Ask any master in meditation and he will explain to you that you will not know the experience of the “self” (as opposed to the persona or “I”) until you practice properly and a lot. But for those who follow this path – there is unquestionable evidence of the free and happy nature of the “self” united with the whole of being. What I (not myself!) claim is that God is similar to this – the technique to sense him has disappeared for most people, but for those whose state of consciousness is open there are divine revelations and visions just like in the biblical period. I am talking about communicators, mediums in the West, and sorcerers, priests and shamans in Africa, America and the countries of the East. Now Copenhagen will claim that these are false prophets! It is unfortunate, but the difference between them and the prophets of truth – outwardly and inwardly (in their direct experience) is as thin as a hair. And in the end, it is likely that there are wide spectra between false prophecy and true prophecy, and there is no binary in the matter. To all those who argue, please do not bring evidence from the writings of the Sages or the early medieval scholars, since prophecy must be explained by people/texts to whom this reality is not foreign.
In the 21st century, in the 9th century
To Gil – Greetings,
The difference between the imaginations and delusions of the 'prophets' of idolatry, and the prophecy of the prophets of Israel is much greater than the distance between heaven and earth. The difference between true prophecy and false prophecy is like the difference between truth and falsehood. Complete opposites.
It may be possible to learn relaxation and concentration techniques from them, but to clarify the essence of prophecy, we have only what emerges from observing the simple depth of the words of the prophets, which our sages and early rabbis labored over. They even inherited from the prophets traditions of mystical insight such as the 'deed of Bereshit' and the 'deed of the Merkava', and even with the cessation of prophecy, revelations of the 'Holy Spirit', 'the revelation of Elijah', etc. did not cease from them.
We will only reach the prophecy through the guidance of the last of the prophets: "Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded him with the sword for all Israel, statutes and judgments" (Malachi 3:22).
And when we adhere to the Torah of Moses, and engage in it with the devotion of friends, as it is written: “Then those who fear the Lord will speak to one another” (3:16), and we will seek Torah from the One about whom it can be said: “My covenant was with him of life and peace, and I will give him fear, and he will fear me, and he will dwell in my name. The law of truth was in his mouth, and there was no error in his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many back from evil… for he is the angel of the Lord of hosts” (3:23). Then we will merit the fulfillment of the vision: “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet…” (3:23).
Best regards, Shatz Levinger
You describe psychotic states in which a person disconnects from reality and tries to activate the pleasure mechanism in an unnatural way as a result of meditation. And any person who disconnects from reality will feel free. And this stems from stupidity, not wisdom. And naturally, when a person feels pleasure, he imagines to himself that he has discovered himself. And this is far from the truth.
Humans' attitude towards those psychotic states is precisely the situation that the Torah warns against, in matters of witchcraft, sorcery, and the like.
It seems you understood everything backwards.
Levinger and the final arbiter – completely agree
Except for stories about the Holy Spirit and Elijah's revelations after the signing of the Bible, which I believe should be doubted.
Levinger. I don't really disagree. Copenhagen. Your agreement - it's important to us. The adjudicator: Take a vacation from Theintellect and meditate. And a lot. It's clear from your eyelashes that you don't know what you're talking about. And when it comes to something so cardinal - it doesn't respect you. This is no longer a field of discussion. Your entire philosophy without a deep acquaintance with meditation is equivalent to the blah blah of an art critic who doesn't know how to hold a paintbrush. Worse. It's like a color-blind dog with its eyes gouged out trying to understand Monet. Now you can disagree and I won't fight about the connection between meditation and true or false prophecy. We don't know what prophecy is. But to abolish the very genre is embarrassing and heartbreaking.
I've done it several times. Without much success. But with conversations with others who were experienced in the matter, it became clear to me that most of the time it's just weak-minded people who come to try it because they have no idea about themselves or what they want to do in life.
I would recommend that you try meditation combined with Ayahuasca. You won't get any deeper than that.
