Bolshevikism and Shimon Peres (Haaretz – 2000)
To the Haaretz supplement editor, greetings.
Aryeh Caspi (in the June 16th supplement) commented on Holon Mayor Moti Sasson gathering 3,000 children from the city's education system to 'applaud' our unforgettable leader Ehud Barak (as a reminder, student demonstrations for Yesha are prohibited).
For some reason, the Holon municipality also decided to rename the 2000th chapter after Shimon Peres, while he was still alive (up to 120), and in addition, we were informed of the establishment of the 'Leah Rabin Home' (as above) for autistic children.
It is worth mentioning that journalist Amnon Shomron of the newspaper Makor Rishon received a response from the municipality that this is a common practice in Holon, according to which a middle school is named after Yitzhak Navon (until 120), and a school is named after former mayor Ayalon (while he was still alive).
For some reason, it seems to me that all these beautiful customs are directed at individuals from one political direction, who I suspect of Bolshevik tendencies. Mayor Moti Sasson continues a beautiful Bolshevik tradition that has been practiced in Holon since time immemorial.
Aryeh Caspi is a thorough and talented journalist, who certainly has better access to sources of information than I do. Perhaps he should try to delve into the roots of this beautiful custom, and its spread to other places in our holy land. Folklore and popular culture researchers will surely thank him for that.
Oh, sun of the nations, who will uncover the dust from your eyes!?
