Paratroopers or seating arrangement

I would like to try and get into the paratroopers, both because this brigade has the highest budget (in the division with commandos) and also because they do parachute jumping (it's cool) and my grandfather was in the 202nd. Another relatively silly reason is that they have a badge and beret in cool colors (the snake with wings is really pretty).
I am a Seder student (starting in Elul soon)
But on the other hand, I'll be with my friends for a year, and it feels like a waste not to serve with them.
My hesitation is really to see if I connect with them (I'm a bit of a strange person, an outsider)
And in any case, there are some who go to work and will not serve with anyone from the yeshiva, and there are those who go to work and break up after the training, and there are many things.
So I don't even know how many friends from the yeshiva I'll actually be with.
What do you think about joining the paratroopers and serving with people from other yeshivahs?
