A huge problem
The Rambam writes in the Laws of Repentance and in Part One that the punishment for the wicked is that they will be cut down and perish like animals. The question is what the punishment is in this, since in life it is clear that they do not believe in the world to come (at least some of them), so it is not appropriate to punish them with the knowledge that they will be punished. And after death, they simply will not be.
Does every evil person not believe in the Hereafter? Every criminal is evil? There are already more formidable questions. I once wrote here that there is no logic in punishing the Hereafter because the threat is enough to achieve the results. Punishing in practice does not yield anything.
Can you point out where you wrote it?
I don't remember. I have to search the website. But there's not much there beyond what I wrote here.
