A taste for the law of Moses from Sinai

שו”תCategory: Talmudic studyA taste for the law of Moses from Sinai
asked 5 years ago

Hello Rabbi,
I wanted to ask if there are reasons for the principles of the laws of Moses from Sinai? (Not for the exact definition, but for the principle)
(For example, a crooked wall – that is, a wall that bends, or a piece of plywood – that we are not the best builders and may make mistakes, Good Asik – the wall declares its direction and I already understand on my own where it is going, etc.)

I think so. Although in the halakhic system of lessons, for example, there is no need for a reason because the lesson is a rationing of prohibitions in order to define the halacha. There does not need to be a substantial reason for this. Every halacha is its own. A crooked wall is a very logical halacha. Why don’t we define a wall in the form of a rish?

Thank you very much, Rabbi.

Although, regarding the lessons, there is a midrash that compares them to "the land of wheat and barley." Isn't this intended to give flavor to the lessons?

It is not a parallel god but rather a conclusion. But even in itself, I see no point in it.

The curved wall must be explained well [about the controversy between Rav and Shmuel, etc.] I wrote this in detail. If you wish.
I will only mention that in Yeshurun (the latter, I think) a strange thing was brought by R. Y. ben Chakmon (he is one of the first), who wrote that until D. A. the Wall could stand crookedly.
