A thief is caught because he is found.
A stole two thousand shekels from B (under various false pretenses). This was found out by C and he forces A to return it. A claims that it is a great shame for him to admit that he stole (says that it is like investing 5000 to return 2000). Is it possible to return it without admitting, for example, the thief will throw two thousand shekels into the house of the one who stole it without explanation. Or is it his duty to explain the whole matter to the one who stole it. A practical question.

This is not part of the mitzvah of restitution. But it is part of the act of repentance (until he reconciles his friend). If in his estimation the friend will lose from this confession (for example, he will not be able to continue being his friend), then there is a place to allow not to confess.
