Abortions – an article you wrote
In the article written by the rabbi, you wrote that the discussion should not be about a woman’s right to her body, but about the single question of “what counts as life.” I agree with this claim, but I’m trying to understand what you’re proposing as “life.” I think the question “what counts as life” is a philosophical question, since it’s impossible to propose an experiment that would refute or support your thesis about what life is. This is a discussion about a socially charged concept, but one that should be done on a philosophical level. I’m also trying to understand why it’s not considered life from the moment the sperm meets the egg. What does it matter if the embryo isn’t developed enough right now, but in a month it will be, and that month is enough to determine that it can be killed? After all, how is time a factor at all when the whole difference between a one-week-old embryo and a nine-month-old embryo is that it was created nine months before, and not beyond.
Thank you 🙂

*If the embryo was fertilized in the womb, I would fear for my life.
