About professionalism

Rabbi, I wanted help with a question I’m dealing with – how do we distinguish a professional from an amateur? I managed to think of three points that seemed relevant to me: A. Control of all the data. on. Field experience. third. An understanding of the inner meaning of the matter that allows it to be adapted to a changing reality… I’m sure I missed something and someone once wrote about it in a systematic way. Could the Rabbi give his own definition/refer me to someone who wrote on the subject?

I don’t know of any writing about this.
Your definition seems quite reasonable to me. Although A and B seem more essential to the definition of a professional. C is an equally important point for success in the profession, but it is not part of the definition of a professional but of the definition of a person with talent. An amateur can also be talented, and sometimes he will be more successful than a professional.
Although sometimes (I think this is usually the case) experience develops C in us, and then perhaps this can also be seen as a parameter that expresses professionalism.
My assumption here is that C expresses good intuition. If it is just a result of experience, then of course it is included in B (along with A).
